New Bark Town
[How often, truly, does Johto actually see newcomers who are probably more in-line with the intended demographic? Not all that often if you'd believe it. Most aren't always thrilled upon arrival either, but this kid in particular...
The instant he'd woken up in an unfamiliar house with an unfamiliar adult addressing him, his immediate response was to seek some avenue of escape. It didn't matter that this woman clearly wasn't the security lady that had been hunting him all night, he didn't want to be anywhere near her. Especially when she wouldn't let him go without taking a backpack (fine) and a hug (less fine). But at least she's kicking him out, saving him the trouble of...he doesn't know, having to escape out the window or something.
But that was a while ago now. By this point, Gregory had discovered his companion, decidedly not Freddy who he's already sorely missing, but a little Teddiursa who barely makes it to his knees. He trusts the bear over any adult he might encounter though, so he scoops him up in his arms and lets him ride on his shoulder, constantly checking and rechecking his now completely non-functional Fazwatch. Does it just not work outside of the facility? He knows he wanted to get out of there in one piece, but he didn't ask to be teleported to some...some other unfamiliar place.
Well. A scruffy, unkept child standing on the outskirts of the city looking like he hasn't slept in 24 hours is hard to miss, at any rate. But, uh. If he sees you looking at him?
He's going to just...immediately bolt and hide behind the nearest building/tree/whatever is closest, bye. Just...glaring from his vantage point, which prompts his Teddiursa to be on the defensive as well, growling in a way that can only be described as cute. Not that the little Pokemon understands why, just that his trainer is distressed and he needs to protect him.]
Network/Audio
[Gregory discovers his Gear eventually after setting up pseudo-camp beside a tree among the tall grass, huddling behind it in what he hopes is relative safety out of immediate eyeshot as he gets the thing working. It doesn't take long before he's connected, whispering in hushed tones as if he's afraid he'll be overheard.]
Freddy! Freddy, can you hear me? Hello?! Are you even out there...look, I dunno what happened, but I'm not in the pizzaplex anymore! I got outside...but I don't know where I am now. But there are these...things here. They're not animatronics though, they're...real.
Voice - un: Uravity
Um...s-sorry, I know this message wasn't probably intended for anyone else, but. Y-You should know that using the network here is open for everyone to access. I'm kind of guessing you just got here, right? If you need any questions answered, I can try to help you - my name is Ochako. Uraraka Ochako--...eh. L-Last name first.
The 'things' your talking about are, um...Po--...Pokeymans? [SO CLOSE.] But they're semi-sentient animals that have qui--erm...different kinds of powers. You should've been given one when you first showed up, and you can befriend or catch others in the routes and towns, too.
Audio
This Ochako doesn't sound like the security guard, but that doesn't mean Gregory is any more inclined to trust her. He frowns, looking over as his Teddiursa climbs into his lap to try to help ease his nerves. He does relax a bit at that, putting his hand on the Pokemon's head for a moment before he curtly replies.]
What do you mean, everyone? Who's everyone? And where am I?
[He actually seems less concerned by the Pokemon than the people, strangely enough.]
no subject
All the people that arrive here and who are given a device like yours. It's called a Poke-Gear, but most people just call it a Gear. And, mmh...if I remember right, people start in Newbark Town, in the Johto region, but taking a ferry from the docks there will let you go to Kanto, the neighboring region past the mountains.

cackles delightedly also that username is so GOOD
...but then he remembers that he's speaking through a phone of sorts, or at the very least a receiver. She can't get him here.
So that panic turns quickly to anger as Gregory's nose scrunches up and he grits out a reply.]
Yeah? Well good luck finding me now.
[Because even he doesn't know where he is...]
i aim to please
and even if she's no longer singed, she still smells the constant burning because of this companion of hers (a Houndour) reeks of fire. the voice on the other end raises the skin at the back of her neck to gooseflesh, anger coming easily and the sound of her gripping the Gear close to breaking can be heard. plastic and metal grinding together.]
Oh, I will. I always do. You can't run forever Gregory...not after what you did to me.
[she's smiling, and luckily she's by herself camping out so no one can see this crazed silver-haired with a green streak lady growling at a child's voice.]
The game's not over yet. And Freddy isn't here to help you cheat.

carefully, saki raises both hands, and the minior tries to hide behind her. )
Hey- I'm in the same boat as you are, I think. We both need to get out of the cold, though.
no subject
Gregory doesn't move. He just watches Saki warily, his Teddiursa steadily growling from its perch on his shoulder.]
Tell me who you are.
[If the cold is an issue, he doesn't seem to be paying any attention to it...even though he's visibly shaking, wearing an old pair of shorts and a t-shirt as he is.]
no subject
she doesn't move from her position, though. )
My name's Saki. And this lil guy doesn't have a name yet, but they just kinda... float around?
( the minior is indeed just kinda floating around. saki frowns though- at least she's got a sweater... oh! )

New Bark Town
But he's been getting by; managing each fear and stress as they come. Swablu's company helps, too. The fluffy-winged Pokemon is affectionate and sweet, even if sometimes her curiosity causes troubles. Case in point: When Boober, trying to work up the courage to leave town, he sees Gregory and the child runs off-- And Swablu immediately goes after him, which means Boober now has to be in pursuit as well.]
No, Swablu! Leave him alone!
[Running away usually means one's frightened, after all, and Boober knows he's not the person who should be calming anyone's nerves.]
no subject
So he picks up speed, stumbling as he makes it out onto the route. Unfortunately, said route is long and pretty open, meaning that the only way Gregory is going to be able to...theoretically hide is by throwing himself into the tall grass.
...which immediately ends with him being flushed back out as a flurry of Pidgey squawk and peck at him and his clothes until he stumbles back onto the open route, leaving him frazzled and exposed. He has no choice but to face Boober and his Swablu, realizing that he's lost everything from the pizzaplex that he'd taken to protect himself, too.]
L-leave me alone! Go away-!
no subject
He takes two small steps back, but he's not going back to New Bark. He knows what it's like to be afraid, so he tries to think about what he would have liked to hear when he'd first arrived.]
I know this is a scary place... I've been scared since I got here. [He pauses to scoff.] Well, longer than that. But I promise I'm not trying to make it worse.

She’s looking over the Poke’gear map at first, not noticing that other people are hanging around the exit as well. Visibly upset at the cold weather and the fact that walking in snow is the only way to get to the next town, she shakes her head and pockets the device into her suit jacket.]
A 3 day walk, huh? Looks like we’ve got our work cut out. Come on. We better cover as much ground as we can before nightfall.
[She’s about to take the first brave steps onto Route 29, but Rotom has other plans. The Ghost Pokemon is the one who happens to spot Gregory and, lacking any sort of personal space, starts zooming over to the young boy. There’s a moment of confusion at the boy’s sudden retreat behind a tree, but that doesn’t stop Rotom from trying. He’s a chirpy little thing, making excited buzzing noises, which is enough to get the attention of his trainer.]
Rotom, stop messing around. We need to go…
[She stops walking upon seeing Gregory hiding behind the tree and a very tough-looking Teddiursa standing guard. Instead of moving closer, she takes a step backward to assess the situation. The poor kid looks scared and cold.]
Oh. That's why you were getting excited. [Helping children is not her area of expertise, but leaving Gregory here to suffer in the elements is worse. She extends one hand forward, trying not to look intimidating.]
I'm sorry if we scared you. Do you need any help?
no subject
Worse. It's worse now.
His jaw works silently for a moment as he shifts his grip on the tree bark, his fingers already becoming numb from the cold as he watches the woman tersely. He isn't about to step into view, nor does he make any attempts to come closer. If anything, his expression sours with visible distrust, especially when her hand is offered.]
I'm...f-fine.
[He mutters even though he's visibly shivering, prompting his Teddiursa partner to huddle closer.]

[Voice] papa bear mode go!
Gregory?
[Freddy feels an odd sensation in his eyes, as tears build in them. There is a horse quality to his voice, even before the emotions.]
It is me, Freddy. I am not in the Pizzaplex either. I do not know where I am but... Some things have changed. I do not know how but, I am human now.
I am sorry this means I don't have somewhere for you to hide.
[He genuinely sounded upset at the idea of not having his hatch.]
Where are you Superstar? I will find you, and keep you safe.
AAAAAAAH
[Gregory can't see him- and it hasn't registered yet why Freddy's voice sounds so...weirdly clear, hoarse though it is- but it doesn't matter. The relief that floods him is palpable, so much so that he nearly throws the Gear down to get up and look for Freddy himself.
But then...]
Wait...wait you're what?!
[Okay, now he's actually on his feet, nearly dislodging the Teddiursa clinging to his shoulder.]
Okay. Okay, um...I'm outside of a town...it's kindof small. Is that where you are now?

[Audio] Room for one more?
(wrong it was all wrong this wasn't how it was supposed to be)
A part of him was quickly aware that his body was also different (still wrong this isn't how he's supposed to look), but the realization faded as another, more important one came to mind. Someone he promised to protect was not there.
He had left in a hurry, barely registering anything else in order to search. But his systems...he was lacking his systems that kept him connected to the Pizzaplex, and he had little information of this unfamiliar place besides the explanations that he had not had the time to listen to.
It was after a while of wandering that he discovered he still had communication, though. He recognized the voice that chimed through the device easily, and relief flooded his new body. It took a moment to learn how to access the device (he can't do it automatically but it's easier to figure out than maybe it should have been), but soon he was able to answer. ]
Gregory! I am so glad to hear from you. Are you all right?
[ His voice sounded different too. It was still his, and yet...strange. Clearer, perhaps. He could not really explain it, but he could only hope it was still recognizable enough. ]
ALWAYS
I'm f-fine! Just...r-really cold.
[It's snowing, after all, and he's still wearing shorts and a t-shirt.]
But what about you? How...how did you get out of the building? I thought you said you couldn't leave?
[Or, at least...if he did, his systems would run out of charge and leaving in the first place would be moot.]

new bark town ♥
( Hiding behind... whatever structure Gregory seems intent on hiding behind seems like the right idea, especially when Chica seems to be looking right at him. The Piplup by her side tilts its head while Chica moves towards him.
She's hardly had time to come to terms with her new form — smooth, flesh, human — before what she considers to be her prime directive overrides her
programmingthoughts. She stands tall, shapely, with blonde hair and a style that would seem to mimic Madonna. Lots of bright colors with bracelets jingling around her wrists. )Gregory? Why are you hiding?
How are we supposed to get you home like this?
SCREAMS
Ice drops into the pit of his stomach, and suddenly he realizes he's more or less backed himself into a corner here. This tree is hiding him well enough, but there's nowhere else for him to immediately run to. If he fled into the tall grass, not only would she see him, but the wild Pokemon would overwhelm him before he could get away.
Maybe...if he stays quiet, and hidden, she won't be able to find him? Unlike Roxanne she can see which is a problem, but they're also not in the Pizzaplex anymore. He could be anywhere, in theory.
At least...that would have worked, if it weren't for the fact that when he shifts just slightly to pull himself further behind that tree, a flock of Pidgey suddenly fly out of the treetops in a flurry of activity and snow being shaken from the branches.
Great.]

New Bark Town
[But it's not just Lick and Confuse Ray that he's having the little ghost practice.]
[As Gregory passes by a dense flower bush in someone's yard, two pairs of eyes watch him from within. As he makes his way beyond that yard and past a small shop encouraging those leaving town to pick up some last minute supplies, the eyes appear again, this time from within the lid of a dumpster.]
[The only warning Gregory gets is a quiet,]
Now!
[The path in front of Gregory is suddenly washed in blue-ish smoke as a wide and wicked face obscures his vision with narrow eyes and sharp teeth. Marley's made his move.]
GAAaaaAaaaAAAaaASTLY!
no subject
Aaahh!!
[The boy startles so badly that he ends up falling backwards, though his fall is mercifully cushioned by one of the many snowdrifts covering the sidewalks. His Teddiursa, that had been on his shoulders, flees to a better vantage point at the back of Gregory's head, gripping his hair with his claws as he buries his face into the back of his head to try and hide himself.
But once Gregory is down, his reflexes dictate he react in a different way beyond cowering or crying or what you might expect any normal child to do.
He reaches into the disturbed snow where the ground had been revealed, snatching up a rock and throwing it as hard as he can at the shroud of smoke and- by extension- the terrifying face heckling him.]
